Clerkin Vets originally started in 1992 in Cootehill, and in the last ten years we have developed another veterinary hospital in Virginia Town. We are a five vet family practice covering a wide range of species.
We have small animal clinics and surgeries at both hospitals from Monday to Saturday by appointments and out of hours for emergency all year round. We offer a wide range of services ranging from microchipping, neutering, vaccines, and worming to digital x-ray(s) on-site, hip and elbow scores for the British Veterinary Association, pet passports are also supplied by ourselves along with rabies and health certificates for travel. We carry out orthopaedics for fracture repairs and knee surgeries, and also carry out soft tissue surgeries. We can offer investigation blood work on site and allergy tests. We can also check for glaucoma or uveitis, and carry out ECG’s and blood pressure measurements. We also have ultrasound which is commonly used for pregnancy diagnosis.
Our large animal vets cover a wide area of Co. Cavan and Monaghan, offering services beyond routine testing. We provide reproductive scanning with the aim to treating any infertility issues at the time, and also carry out bull breeding soundness exams. We are a horse friendly practice and welcome the routine vaccines and worming advise to digital x-ray(s), reproductive work and pre purchase examinations. We keep up to date with all current regulations.
Both hospitals have a shop for all your pet foods and accessories and farming products and friendly staff who are available to ask for any advise.
In association with Clerkin Vets we also have a poultry service carrying out investigation, diagnostics and treatments for poultry on a small or large scale. Our clinic times are from 9am - 6pm Monday to Saturday, and out of hours is available all year round. Our Cootehill Hospital contact is 049 555 2777; our Virginia Hospital contact is 049 854 5177.
